SCW

SCW stands for small chemical waste. This includes items like cleaning detergents and solvents, batteries, mercury thermometers, medicines and lamps.

Some parts and substances can be reused, like the metal and acid in batteries or the gas, metal and glass of a fluorescent tube. We can also use paint residues to make new paint. After all usable raw materials have been removed from the SCW, the remainder is incinerated. You can find more information on SCW separation and recycling on the Milieucentraal website.

TV West made an interesting episode about the recycling of batteries in the series ‘Johan is getting divorced!’ Watch the episode!
