Core task
Avalex takes care of the collection and processing of household waste and raw materials on behalf of the municipalities of Delft, Leidschendam-Voorburg, Midden-Delfland, Pijnacker-Nootdorp, Rijswijk and Wassenaar.
History
Avalex was founded on April 2, 2001 as a joint arrangement by the municipalities of Leidschendam, Voorburg and Rijswijk based on the need to utilize the power of the collective while increasing scale. Over the years, the municipalities of Pijnacker-Nootdorp (2004), Wassenaar (2006), Delft (2007) and Midden-Delfland (2010) have also joined.

We are a business management organization; a partnership as referred to in the 'Wet gemeenschappelijke regelingen'. This means that policy choices belong to our municipalities and that we focus on implementation. The tasks and responsibilities of Avalex are registered in the 'Gemeenschappelijke regeling Avalex 2018'.
