Residual waste

If you separate out all of your waste, residual waste is all that is left over. If you've done the separation properly, that should be next to nothing! Unfortunately, things are still often put into the residual waste container which could easily be separated. This includes PMD waste, VFG waste or paper. It’s a shame! We incinerate residual waste because we cannot recycle it, so you would actually be burning valuable raw materials.

What is residual waste?

  • Cat litter granules
  • Nappies and incontinence material
  • Vacuum cleaner bags

Please note: wet or greasy paper/cardboard, such as paper tissues and pizza boxes, cannot be recycled as paper and therefore unfortunately also belongs in the residual waste.

TV West made an interesting episode about residual waste in the series ‘Johan is getting divorced!’ Watch the episode.

Did you know...

That all residual waste is incinerated? That means everything you put in the grey container! Such a shame, don’t you think?
