Textile

Textiles can be given a second life. Good quality second-hand clothes can go to the thrift store or are sent to a country in need. Clothing of lesser quality can still be repaired by workshops and sent on to a new owner.

Non-wearable textiles can also be given a new lease of life, such as torn clothes, sheets, towels and curtains. They are taken apart (fiberized) and broken down into different types of fibre. New clothing can be made from this material, but also such things as insulation material, blankets for packing and car seats.

TV West made an interesting episode about textile recycling in The Hague in the series ‘Johan is getting divorced!’ Watch the Watch the episode!

Rules

  • Do not place textiles next to the container.
  • Place textiles in a closed plastic bag; this will keep them dry.
  • Put shoes tied together in pairs.
